GCSC is developing Griddle, a vendor-agnostic digital twin platform that makes fragmented, largely unmetered distribution grids observable, fusing deterministic power-flow physics with data-driven state estimation into a single real time source of truth for grid operators.

The problem

On fragmented grids with isolated connection points and largely unmetered branches, conventional monitoring cannot reconstruct real time flows. Physics-only state estimation is under-determined precisely where metering is absent, the branches an operator most needs to see.

A software-only, vendor-agnostic platform. A deterministic power-flow core provides an interpretable physical backbone; a data-driven observability layer generates learned load pseudo-measurements and cross-validates them against every available meter, SCADA, and IoT source, yielding accurate network state even on unmetered branches, with explicit confidence bounds rather than a black box.
